Yuen Long

As Teri wanted to return to her childhood neighborhood in Yuen Long, a western suburb of Hong Kong in the Northwestern New Territories, we took the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) rail line there and then transferred to the Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Yuen Long.  When Teri last lived there in 1965, it was a rural area with a few villages scattered about a central market where the villagers could see their crops.  But in the 1970s, Yuen Long New Town was developed from the traditional market town of Yuen Long.  Since then, the population has increased dramatically and as of 2011 was fast approaching 580,000.

Yuen Long is no longer a small collection of villages

We took the LTR in Yuen Long to get around

After getting off at Tai Tong stop, we had a 5 minute walk to Ho To Tai Noodle Shop.  The restaurant that specializes in shrimp roe noodle and won ton dishes is reputedly the cheapest Michelin starred restaurant in the world.
